Meet the team
Our dedicated team of vets, receptionist and kennel staff, will provide a most proficient service.
Dr Robert Fouche, best known as "Dr Rob", joined the Strubens Valley Animal Hospital team in February 2023. He completed his BSc Animal Science in 2010 and graduated from Onderstepoort (OP) in 2015. He started off his career as a State Vet, assisting under privileged communities in Bloemfontein. He later returned to Gauteng where he has been based for his most recent years. Dr Rob has a keen interest in surgery, particularly, orthopaedic procedures. Happily married to his high school sweetheart for almost 20 years, they are proud dog parents to a mischievous lab-spaniel cross. Dr Fouche and his family spend time together outdoors, overland travelling, birding and wildlife photography.
Dr Kirsten Houston completed his BVSc and graduated from Onderstepoort at the University of Pretoria in 2020. He spent his year of Community Service (2021) applying his skills at Thaba Nchu, Free State. Dr Kirsten joined the Strubens Valley Animal Hospital team in 2022. He hails from Kokstad, Kwa-Zulu Natal and believes that his exposure to a wide variety of animals in this small, farming community is the driving force to his career ambition of being a veterinarian. Kirsten says that the reward of being of service to his patients, serves as an affirmation of his career choice. Whilst he has a keen interest in medical work ups and enjoys soft tissue surgery, Dr Kirsten's key underpinning is to bring healing to his patients in all aspects of his medical expertise, and in turn, bring comfort to their "parents". His love and dedication to animals extend beyond his work. He and his partner, a practicing veterinarian too, are proud parents to a German Shepard, Ares. When he's not a vet, he enjoys the outdoors and is an avid sportsman.
Dr Sarah Abel qualified as a veterinarian in 2024 and completed her Community Service year in Limpopo. With a particular interest in veterinary medicine and the problem-solving aspect of clinical work, Dr Sarah recently joined our practice. Originally from Pretoria, Dr Sarah has loved animals for as long as she can remember. Compassion, kindness, and a calm approach are central to how she works, and she places great importance in supporting both her patients and their owners throughout their veterinary journey. Outside of work, Dr Sarah enjoys rock climbing, spending time outdoors, and making the most of time with friends and family.

Admin & Reception
Taking good care of you and your furry friends
Mirinda Corthing serves as the Lead Administrator at Strubens Valley Animal Hospital. With approximately 49 years of professional financial and administrative experience, Mirinda’s role can be best described as the “operational heartbeat” of our organisation. Typically found buried in a ledger, or ticking on a calculator, Mirinda is our go-to for all matters office related. Her love for animals is key too, to her learned contribution to the Strubens Valley Vet family. She has four Pekingese of her own, who she refers to as her “beloved children.”
For the last 16 years Adora Maddison has been the face of Strubens Valley Animal Hospital. Employed in 2007 in the position of receptionist, Adora has since expanded her role to include client relations. Adora lends to the practice manty years of experience in the customer service environment, having worked both in corporate and art fields. Adora's contributions to the team, in co-ordinating and scheduling all aspects of the medical services of the hospital, managing and directing client bookings and all other matters in the administrative functions, has made her a pillar within the hospital. As a mother, nurturing and supporting both the "2-legged" and "4-legged" variety are second nature. When not galloping around in the hospital, Adora can be found cooking, painting and crafting.
Loretta is one of our newest members at Strubens Valley Animal Hospital. She has over 8 years experience in accounts and reception, ranging from retail to the medical sector. Her helpful, infectiously bubbly, warm approach to both client and their furry friends brings a fresh approach to the practice. She looks forward to growing in the veterinary sector and meeting all the gorgeous dogs and cats (and of course owners) that walk through the practice doors.
With over 20 years of experience in retail and administration, Sandra has built strong skills in customer service and organization. Her passion for both people and animals has led her to her dream role as a veterinary receptionist, where she gets to combine her professional expertise with her love for supporting clients and their pets. Outside of work, Sandra is a proud Springbok supporter and a lifelong Bon Jovi fan, bringing the same energy and enthusiasm to her personal life as she does to her career.
